Progress and what comes next
Your child's lessons, on the family pages, say how each one stands:
- Got it: your child showed they have it, with the day.
- Needs practice: finished, but not got yet. Your child sees One more go.
- Paused: stopped partway, with where.
- Updated: paused for more than 14 days and changed since, so it starts again from the beginning.
- Being checked: not open yet, while our team checks it.
- Best after another lesson: that one is best taken first, but you can still start this one.
- Already known: you marked it, or its unit, as one your child already knows (see below).
Finding a lesson
The family pages show your child's lessons a curriculum, a subject and a grade at a time:
- Curriculum: every curriculum, your child's own marked Theirs and any you opened for them Also open.
- Subject: a tab for each, with how many lessons it has. The page opens on the subject up next.
- Grade: each grade with lessons in the subject, marked Review, This grade or Ahead by the grade the subject's line is at, which the page opens on.
Every unit is open, with how many of its lessons your child has got, and a row of the units at the top goes to each. The unit your child is in says You're here. A unit all done is one line, like ✓ Counting to 120 · 3/3, which opens to its lessons, to take one again.
Each lesson says about how long it takes, and has a button for each way to take it: 📖 Picture book and 🧑🏫 Board for a lesson that also comes as a picture book (see below), or just one. The way its next class goes is the solid button. A way your child finished has a ✓, and the button of a class they paused says Continue.
Find looks through every subject and grade of the curriculum by the lessons' titles, topics and skills, which are in English. Show picks the lessons Not started, In progress (paused, or needing practice) or Done (got it, or already known), with how many there are.
Your child's own page has the same, in All my lessons, for the grades and curricula you let them browse: see Your child's learning plan.
What comes next
Your child's own page has Today: the lessons their week's plan holds for today, each subject's next along its learning line, and the lesson they paused most recently always first. A lesson finished without getting it gets a second go from the next day, before the subject's next new lesson; meanwhile the subject goes on. If the second go doesn't get it either, the lesson comes back to practise once the subject's other lessons are done.
Today offers only what fits your child's time left today, so no class is cut short: a paused lesson always, then each of today's others while it fits. Then it says That's all for today! and which lesson comes next time. Once today's are done, it says when the next class is, and with time left today it offers A bit more. Right after class, My notebook says what's next: the next of today's lessons, to go straight to class when it fits today, or else the next class day's first, for next time. Up next, on your child's lessons on the family pages, says the same. See Your child's learning plan.
Lessons that also come as a picture book
Some lessons also come as a picture book: the same lesson, with the same goals and length, which the teacher reads with your child page by page instead of teaching it on the board. Your child takes the picture book: their lessons and Today show the book's title, with Picture book. On the family pages the lesson keeps its own title, with Picture book: and the book's title. Either one counts as the lesson, for your child's progress, their learning plan and the reports.
To have your child take these lessons on the board, untick the box under Picture book or board in their Settings, or let your child choose the board on their Me page. A lesson finished without getting it has its second go the other way, and a class your child paused goes on the way it started. The page a lesson adds to the unit's book comes from the way your child took it last.
Your family page
Your family page has a card for each child:
- Today: the lessons today's plan holds, and whether each is done; your child's class time today; 20 more minutes today; Day off today or Day off tomorrow; and on a rest day, Class today or Class tomorrow: see Your child's learning plan.
- This week: how many of the week's planned lessons are done, like 5 of 8 lessons done, any subject behind, and the week Day by day.
- Subjects: a row for each, like Math · Grade 2, Unit 6 · 62% of the grade done · about 6 weeks left at this pace · last report: got it. The subject's name opens its lessons, and Change where subjects start your child's settings.
- To look at: first, when there are any, up to three things: a subject that hasn't come up for two weeks or more, a unit with two lessons or more not got yet, which going over again may help, or a grade nearly done.
Class records has each of their classes: see Reading a report.
Each subject's learning line
Each subject has a learning line: its lessons in the curriculum's order, unit by unit. It starts at the first unit of your child's grade in the curriculum you chose for them, or while that grade has no lessons in the subject yet, of a grade below to review, else a grade above. Once a grade is done, the line goes on into the next grade's lessons in the subject, when there are some.
In your child's Settings you can choose where any subject starts, a grade and a unit of it, or leave a subject out for now. Changing it keeps every lesson and report so far. You can also mark units or lessons your child already knows: the line skips them, and the lessons pages show them as Already known.
Your child can take any lesson first, from their lessons, while they pick their own (see Your child's learning plan). The line follows them: once they get a lesson further along it, it goes on from the lesson after, and the lessons it passed that they haven't finished and don't already know are skipped. Your child's lessons on the family pages list them by the subject, like Skipped: 2 lessons, each with
- Put it back: puts it on your child's next class day, as a lesson on a day does; or
- Already knows: marks it as one they know.
A lesson further along that your child didn't get yet doesn't move the line, nor does one of a grade below the line's, one in no unit, or one from another curriculum. A lesson marked as known can still be taken, to review. What children learn lists every unit open now.
