Help centre · Class time and buying it

Buying class time

When class hours are on sale, you buy them in packs on the Class time page, at the top of the parent pages. Buying always needs your parent PIN, so children can't. Children never see what anything costs.

The packs

  • 1 hour of class time
  • 5 hours of class time
  • 10 hours of class time
  • 20 hours of class time

Pricing says what each costs, about how many lessons its hours are, and when classes can start. Amounts are in US dollars (USD), before tax.

  • Any family can buy a pack, as often as it likes. There's no subscription, and nothing renews. Nothing is bought for you unless you turn on automatic top-up (below).
  • All your children share the hours, and class hours you buy don't expire.

Buying one

  1. Open Class time at the top of the parent pages, and press Buy on a pack.
  2. Stripe, our payment provider, opens its checkout page. Enter your card and your billing address, and tick that you agree to the Terms of Service. We never see your card number.
  3. Once it's paid, you're back on the Class time page, which says your class hours are added. They're there to use at once.

If your bank asks you to confirm the payment, Stripe shows you how. If the page says Stripe is still confirming your payment, reload it in a minute. While your family's classes are paused, buying is paused too.

Automatic top-up

Automatic top-up buys a pack for you when your family's class time runs low, so a class never has to wait for you. It's off until you turn it on, under Automatic top-up on the Class time page, with your parent PIN:

  1. Press Save a card. Stripe's secure page saves your card for later, and charges nothing. We keep only its brand and last 4 digits.
  2. Choose when to buy (when class time falls below 2 hours, unless you choose otherwise), which pack (5 hours, unless you choose otherwise), and a monthly limit of 10 to 1,000 US dollars (100, unless you choose otherwise).
  3. Read what you agree to, tick I agree, and press Turn on automatic top-up. We keep what you agreed to, and when. Changing the settings asks you to agree again.
  • A top-up is bought when a class leaves your family's class time below the amount you chose: one at a time, each with its receipt, like a pack you buy yourself.
  • Every automatic top-up in a calendar month (in your family's time zone) counts toward the monthly limit. Once the next one wouldn't fit, none is bought until next month, and the Class time page and the family page say so. You can buy a pack yourself, or raise the limit.
  • If your card is declined, the Class time page and the family page say so, and we try again the next time class time runs low. After 2 failures in a row, automatic top-up turns off until you turn it on again.
  • While a top-up is on its way, a class can run up to 10 minutes past zero.
  • Turn off automatic top-up stops it at once.

Monthly limits for each child

If you like, set the most class time each child can use in a calendar month, under Monthly limits on the Class time page. There's none unless you set one. Once a child's is used, no new class starts for them until next month (their page says That's all your class time for this month), and a class that's running stops when the limit is reached.

Tax and receipts

If tax applies, it's worked out from your billing address at checkout, and shown there before you pay. Stripe emails you a receipt, and the Class time page lists what you've bought under Purchases, each with its Receipt.

Class hours aren't refundable, except in a few cases: see Refunds.
