Class time
For now, classes are free and no class time is counted. When we count it, your family has an amount of class time, shared by all your children, and the Class time page, at the top of the parent pages, shows it.
Where it comes from
- First class, free: any free class time we give a new family for its first class, once per family; it doesn't expire. Pricing says how much, if any.
- Class hours bought: class hours you buy in packs, which don't expire: see Buying class time.
- Make-up time and time Added by My Family School, when our team gives some.
- From before packs, a family may also have a Free trial, a Plan's hours each month (see A monthly plan from before) or Extra time, each until the day it expires.
What a class takes
- A class needs at least 5 minutes of class time to start.
- It takes the time on its class clock, from when your child joins, less any time away. A class under a minute, or one that went wrong on our side, takes nothing.
- Classes take the time that expires first, so the class hours you bought, which don't expire, are used last.
- If time runs out during a class, the teacher wraps up kindly and your child's place in the lesson is saved.
- While we count class time, up to three of your children can be in class at once.
When it runs low or runs out
Your family page says Your family's class time is running low when it's down to 30 minutes, or a fifth of what you had if that's more. Once there's less than a class needs, it says Your family's class time is used up (or Your free trial is over), and new classes wait until there's more. Your children never see what's left or what anything costs: their screen says only Time for a grown-up to take a look.
The Class time page shows what's left and when the first of it expires, where each part came from, and each class of the month by child, with what it took or why it was free. Download gives the month's classes as a spreadsheet file (CSV).
